McClellan Park Neighborhood Garage Sale

MPNA Garage Sale Update 6/7/2010

Traffic was very good to heavy on both Friday and Saturday despite some rain early on Friday morning. There was a near constant stream of people both days and the timing works in favor of all who participated this past weekend to generate traffic to this side of town.

Many of the people I spoke to were from all parts of the city and areas outside of Madison coming in specifically for the large amount of garage sales occurring in the small area.

The largest concentration of garage sales in the MPNA district was in Covered Bridge and Grandview Commons. There was one garage sale by Milwaukee Street and one garage sale on the far North West fringe of the neighborhood by the Interstate. It was estimated that we had 15 to 20 households holding garage sales this past Friday and Saturday. This is not too bad considering this is the first organized garage sale effort we have had in years.

For the next garage sale we will attempt to have available for all participating households a map of the area with dots indicating locations of the garage sales. This was a common request from visitors to the garage sales.

We could easily double the number of participating households to over 30 the next time, and really move out some of our used but valuable possessions to other homes.

Thanks to all for participating.
